Spherical Plain Thrust Bearings have a convex spherical surface on the shaft washer and a corresponding concave spherical surface in the housing washer. They are intended to accommodate primarily axial loads but can also accommodate combined (radial and axial) loads.
Spherical Plain Thrust Bearings are classified broadly into the self – lubricating type with a solid PTFE based liner and the lubrication type in which contact between the inner and outer rings is metal – to – metal.
